Bankruptcy Associate – Washington, DC

Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an associate with 4 – 9 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience to join the Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group in our Washington, DC office. Am-Law Top-100 Law-Firm experience in bankruptcy and restructuring preferred. Law-clerk experience for a bankruptcy judge in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court or other federal-court clerkship is a plus, but not required. In addition to having strong legal-writing, oral-communication, and litigation skills, qualified candidate will have significant experience representing debtors, secured creditors, indenture trustees, creditor committees, trustees, unsecured creditors, bondholder and noteholder groups, liquidation trustees, plan administrators and disbursing agents, bidders and acquirers, and other stakeholders in corporate reorganization matters, corporate trust and inter-creditor issues, and bankruptcy and default matters. The candidate must also have experience (1) drafting avoidance complaints, mediation statements, various motions and pleadings, objections to plans of reorganization, sale motions, and settlement agreements; (2) preparing and filing fee applications, proofs of claim, and legal memoranda; and (3) presenting motions to the bankruptcy court and attending evidentiary hearings.This position will involve working with the entire 50+ member Foley & Lardner Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group, with primary focus in the Washington, DC and Virginia markets. We are seeking a well-rounded, dynamic, highly-motivated Bankruptcy associate who is an effective communicator and has demonstrated an ability to thrive and prosper in complex environments. Bio Patent Associate – Silicon Valley

Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a patent associate with 2-3 years of law firm patent prosecution experience to join the firm’s pre-eminent, national Intellectual Property Department’s Chemical, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Practice Group in our Silicon Valley office. Qualified candidate must hold a PhD in the biological sciences (i.e. Immunology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related field) and have solid patent prosecution experience. Ideal candidate will have immediately transferable skills, with a strong academic background, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Admission before the USPTO is required. Qualified candidate will have 2-4 years of experience working in a legal capacity and the ability to handle a full range of trademark, copyright and advertising practice. Practice includes: clearance, filing, prosecution and maintenance; agreements (sponsorship and promotional agreements, entertainment contracts, trademark licenses, M&A, credit agreements and due diligence); TTAB actions; cease and desist issuance and response; litigation; UDRP actions; securing GTLD and CCTLD domains; advertising review; claims and defense; and supervision of paralegals. Relevant experience preferred. Excellent academic credentials, project management skills, and strong writing and communication skills are required. Litigation Associate - Washington, DC

Foley & Lardner is seeking an associate with 3-4 years of litigation experience to join the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group in our Washington, DC office. Ideal candidate will have experience with complex business litigations in state and federal courts, including conducting and managing document discovery, researching and drafting pleadings, motions and other court filings, conducting/defending depositions, preparing witnesses for testimony, appearing for status conferences, and arguing motions in both state and federal court. Participation in settlement conferences and negotiations, experience with trial preparation, and experience supervising junior associates and staff helpful. Litigation Staff Attorney - Tampa
